If you have a BA in Biology, Earth Sciences or related and you are fluent in English (B2 level), please contact us! Study Paleobiology at the University of Opole (MA studies in English). This is one of the few such programs in Europe!

ECP coorganised 11th Cretaceous Symposium

Between 22-26th of August in Warsaw a unique scientific conference took place. 11th Cretaceous Symposium was coorganised by European Centre of Paleontology. Prof. Elena Yazykova and Dawid Mazurek guided field trip to Folwark quarry and search for Cretaceous fossils together with researchers from Great Britain, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Southern Korea, China, USA, Ukraine and Poland. Together with abstractbook and extensive field guide was prepared, to present different Creatceous sites and research projects.

Join us at the Excavation Camp in Krasiejów!

As usual our team will be excavating the fossils of vertebrates from the Triassic period. The Camp will be divided into three time periods where under the supervision of the UO scientists and ECP members you will have chance to excavate and prepare macro and microfossils of vertebrates.

Prehistoric Images of Opole Region – New exhibition at University of Gdańsk

A new exhibition is being created at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Gdańsk, in cooperation with the University of Opole. The opening is planned for the 4th of March. At the exhibition, we will see, among others reconstruction of fossil amphibians and reptiles from the Early/Middle Triassic of Gogolin, Late Triassic of Krasiejów and fossils of ammonites, sea urchins and clams from the Upper Cretaceous sediments exploited in Opole. The opening of the exhibition will be combined with a conference, that will include lectures given by employees of the Faculty of Biology, University of Gdańsk and members of the European Center of Palaeontology (University of Opole).

Biologists’ Night at the University of Opole

The 11th edition of Biologists’ Night is behind us. The Biologists’ Night is a joint venture of more than 35 scientific institutions from all over the country and aims to disseminate knowledge of nature. This year’s edition was held on January 14th, under the slogan Biodiversity: from gene to ecosystem. This is a reference to the Resolution of the European Parliament of June 6th, 2021 for biodiversity 2030. As every year, our employees, doctoral students and students have prepared a rich and interesting program offer for nature lovers, including the youngest science enthusiast as well as school youth and adults. This time, the Biologists’ Night took place in a hybrid form. Some of the materials are still available online, including presentations by ECP members:

ECP Guest Lectures 2022

As in previous years, the European Center of Paleontology organizes guest lectures by palaeontologists from foreign research centers for University of Opole students and all enthusiasts of palaeontology. The following lectures were held in January:
